Michael Zeitlin, Chief Executive Officer
With over 30 years experience in scientific and business computing Michael is a recognized leader in visualization technology worldwide. He created the oil industry’s first commercial 3D visualization center. In 1998 he received the Carnegie Mellon and American Management Institute Award for Innovation in Information Technology. In 1999 his work was honored with a permanent position in the Archives of the Smithsonian Institution. He founded Magic Earth, LLC. in 2000, and as Chairman and CEO, achieved profitability in three months. Magic Earth was acquired by Halliburton that same year for $100 million. Michael holds a B.Sc. in Earth and Space Sciences and M.Sc. in Marine Environmental Science from the State University of New York at StonyBrook.
Denis Papp, Director of Technology
Denis is a veteran of 3D graphics applications with over 17 years experience in the video game industry. He led several multi-million dollar budget projects to market, winning the “Strategy Game of the Year” award. As the CTO at TimeGate Studios, he developed an Agile methodology for software project management, founded on continuous improvement. He started his career as a Lead Programmer at BioWare, then proceeded to develop one of the first strong Poker AIs, Loki, with the Computer Poker Research Group at the University of Alberta. Denis holds a B.Sc. with Honors and a M.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Alberta.
RoseAnn Carr – Director of Operations
RoseAnn has over 20 years experience in Business Administration where she helped both large and small companies in the Oil and Gas, Aerospace and Waste industries during start-up of operations overseeing HR, accounting, IT and investor relations. Five of those years were with the international oil company, Anglo-Suisse. For the last 10 years she has been in the training industry. She grew the average enrollment from 0 to 300 in just seven months as the School Director for StaffMark Technology Training Center generating over $1,000,000 in sales revenues in the first year. As School Director of the Burnett Training Center from 2001 to 2007 she grew enrollments and expanded course offerings to meet client needs, taking it from 15th to the 6th largest computer training company in Houston.
Miles D. Harper III, Chief Financial Officer
Miles joined Gainer, Donnelly & Desroches (now Carr, Riggs & Ingram) in 1998 and became Partner in 2001. He is experienced in all phases of financial and tax services including preparation/review of financial statements, analysis of management strategies, individual, business and estate tax planning and valuation, and litigation support. Miles also worked for Price Waterhouse for five years and was managing partner of a local Houston firm for eight years. He serves as Chairman Bridgeway Mutual Funds, Director Calvert Mutual Funds, Board Member Depelchin Children’s Center, Elder Grace Presbyterian Church, and Director Grace School. Miles is a CPA with a BBA from Baylor University.
Lawrence E. Wilson, General Counsel
Lawrence Wilson’s legal career spans 30 years, beginning with his first experience in securities regulation and acquisitions in 1975. Mr. Wilson joined Atwood Oceanics, Inc. as a staff attorney with primary responsibility for securities registration and reporting compliance and negotiation of international drilling contracts. In 1979, Mr. Wilson created the law department for Stewart & Stevenson Services, Inc. Over the next 20 years, Stewart & Stevenson grew to a $1.2 billion company. Mr. Wilson was named to positions of increasing responsibility, ultimately becoming the company’s first Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel.
John Mumm, Adviser
Dr. Mumm is currently CEO at Deka BioSciences, Inc. John received an MS from Stanford University and both an MS and PhD from MD Anderson Cancer Center where he discovered that IL-10 directly activates anti-tumor CD8+ T cells. John conducted post-doctoral work for a year at DNAX Research Institute and became a Scientist at Schering Plough where he developed PEGylated IL-10 (AM0010) as an immunoncology asset. He then founded Targenics, later merged with ARMO BioSciences (now a publicly traded company), to clinically develop AM0010 and other immune oncology assets. As a founder and Senior Director of Technical Operations at ARMO, John lead the manufacturing and pre-clinical research teams. John was formerly the Director of Immunoncology R&D at Medimmune LLC and is the author of 27 peer reviewed manuscripts and 18 granted or pending patents. Due to working through all of his education, John has over 20 years’ experience with a variety of biotechnology, (Anergen Inc., Introgen Inc., Bacterial Barcodes, DNAX Research Institute, Targenics Inc., ARMO BioSciences, ACIR BioSciences) and pharmaceutical, (Schering Plough, Merck Inc., MedImmune LLC) companies.
Dr. Ferid Murad, Adviser
Dr. Ferid Murad won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 1998 for his research on nitroglycerin and the resulting discovery of a new principle for transferring signals between cells. He studied at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, and received his doctorate from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. He has worked at several American universities, including the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and Stanford University in California, where he did his Nobel Prize-awarded research.
Luc Tanguay, Adviser
Mr. Luc Tanguay, M.Sc., C.F.A. has been the CEO and President of Theratechnologies Inc. since October, 2012. He has been active in the biotechnology industry for over 20 years and has held various management posts in corporate finance, strategic planning, investor relations and financing. Luc served as the CFO and Senior Executive Vice President of Theratechnologies Inc. from November, 2004 to October, 2012 and has been a Member of Senior Management since 1996. He has contributed to the growth by facilitating access to public and private capital funding. Mr. Tanguay started his career in investment banking at Lévesque Beaubien (now National Bank Financial) where he helped several corporations to become publicly traded. He holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Finance from Université de Sherbrooke. He also obtained his Chartered Financial Analyst title from the University of Virginia. Mr. Tanguay was named Quebec’s entrepreneur of the year in 2017.
Joe Wernicke, Adviser
Dr. Wernicke was formerly a Sr. Research Physician with Eli Lilly and Company. He was involved in the development of Lilly’s blockbuster drugs Prozac® and Cymbalta®, as well as other drugs including Strattera®. He is a former VP of Clinical and Regulatory Affairs for Cyberonics, Inc. having led their clinical development and regulatory process for an implantable device.
Ronald R. Zimmerman, Adviser
Mr. Zimmerman is a founding investor of PLx Pharma Inc. and served as director since inception through December 2015, as President and Chief Executive Officer from January 2004 until December 2015 and currently as Senior Advisor. Mr. Zimmerman has been an active life science investor and has served on the boards of Nanospectra Biosciences, Inc. and Cancer Genetics, Inc. and the Advisory Board of BioImagene, Inc. He has held positions with various firms including as Managing Director with Deutsche Bank, Robert Fleming Inc., The Chase Manhattan Bank, and James Capel & Co., as well as Chief Financial Officer with Explorer Drilling Company and President of Explorer Oil & Gas Co., Inc. and TLO Energy Inc.
